Story telling in five concept rooms that inspire | the top trending Living Room, Bedroom, Hospitality, Healthcare, Schools and Childcare

Modern space planning requires a particular theme or need. Goodrich presented three of the most important design strategies in modern space planning in the form of five real rooms: the wish for a cosy space that is a pleasure to spend time in, the desire for modern furnishings with functional added value and a high degree of customisability, all play into each other. Because whether the project involves a new build or the renovation of an existing room –Goodrich is committed to deliver a room that is a spatial sensation, private sanctuary, innovation hub and the reflection of a modern interior design, all rolled into one.

Goodrich provides an up-to-date overview of what is trending in modern space planning: the top interior trends in the Living Room, Bedroom, Hospitality, Healthcare, Schools and Childcare, feature all the design and decorating solutions in a modern space.

1 LIVING ROOM DESIGN | Multi-functional and adaptive

During the pandemic, the apartment became more than just a house but also a gym, work space and recreation area. That is, the functionality of the house has expanded, and the main load in almost all cases fell on the living room.

Having to work from home makes many realise that even in the combined rooms, privacy should be preserved. Especially if there are more than two occupants, and not everyone has a job. In this case, wallpapered partitions are a cool and easy way to implement the idea of creating private areas. Wall panels when wallpapered allow a room to be transformed quickly without tearing down walls.

Expectations of a living room today is to evoke calm and relaxation, multiplied by comfort. A neutral palette is always an adaptive base in the living room setting. A geometric patterned wallpaper in shades of grays, is paired with a marble-inspired vinyl flooring to carve a reading corner in the living room that is contemporary with a masculine edge.

2 BEDROOM DESIGN | Aspirational with natural materials and textures

One of the main trends in the interior of 2022 and post-pandemic is evoking the feeling of being safe, cosy and rested in the bedroom. Insulation at home and in the bedroom has proven how important it is to surround yourself with natural materials and comforting textures applied in interior furnishing.

The bedroom is a place of rest, security, physical and mental relaxation where you isolate yourself from the whole world in search of internal harmony. A clean and elegant design that brings pleasure is therefore an integral part of a bedroom design.

Today, respect for the environment and minimalism are among the flagship ideas of the 2022 bedroom decoration trend. In addition, the unity of society with nature and measures to preserve it are trending all over the world and logically the tools of the interior is no exception. Natural materials, living plants, stone, wood, daylight – are sums of all parts of the adult bedroom in 2022.

As travelling for leisure becomes restrictive, the bedroom is geared towards a space for aspirations and dreamy destinations. In the bedroom setting, a fabric inspired wall in cool grays showcases a collage of framed photographs and artefacts, as an inspirational view from the bed. A floral patterned wallpaper in shades of blues flanks the bed and serves as a stunning statement wall which transforms the bedroom into a bucolic garden scene. A wood-inspired vinyl flooring in a light tone brightens up the bedroom’s aesthetic.

Textures in bold combinations of wallpaper, curtains and flooring can completely transform the bedroom into a place for more than just sleep.

3 HOSPITALITY DESIGN | A home away from home

As a leader in hospitality furnishings, Goodrich acknowledges performance-driven designs that ensure the safety and well-being of both guests and staff. Hotels and other hospitality venues in the future require, wallcovering, carpeting and fabrics for the ultimate in clean as well as beautiful in aesthetics. Offering private offices, co-working spaces, or zoom suites, with minimal adjustments to the guest room, allows hotels to have a flexible offering throughout the day.

Eco-friendly, personalisation, sanitation and expression designs remain important trends in hospitality. Certified products and natural materials such as wood, glass, stone or metal which meet ecological standards are the most used in hotel renovations or even new builds.

In the guestroom setting, digital wallcovering provides the perfect tool for customising a space. A digital print of a wall mural reflecting the blue skies flanks the bed and sets the theme for the room. The designs and colour palette on the carpet are also customised to complete the boutique hotel theme.

Goodrich recognises that cosiness, zeitgeist, fashion and style are very much in demand as the cornerstones of a professionally planned space, as are modern usage concepts that enhance the quality of the space and materials which meets commercial compliance requirements. Moving forward, Goodrich adopts a design strategy in public spaces that are highly curated with controlled density whether it is an office, hotel, restaurant or any hospitality venue.

4 HEALTHCARE DESIGN | Recuperating in grand hospitality with microbial surfaces and flexible spaces

The pandemic triggered a dramatic need for building controls, improved air quality, and overall facility resilience. The sustainable patient’s room is a mainstay that is playing an increasingly important role for the healthcare sector. The Green and sanitised healthcare design setting is a future concept that strives for the optimal combination of smart, microbial products, eco-friendly industrial production, sustainable materials and enduring design while simultaneously conveying a sense of being in touch with nature.

These re-evaluations have opened doors for more flexible design options that include adaptive reuse that allow hospital units to adjust quickly to different health situation.

Goodrich acknowledges that “futureproofing” is an essential in healthcare systems’ planning lexicons. Every aspect of each facility, from arrival to discharge, is being reviewed and reconsidered when designing new or renovated space in a healthcare setting.

5 SCHOOLS AND CHILDCARE DESIGN | Playroom Meets Classroom.

Adapting to school at home was definitely game on in the pandemic. The ignitor may have been circumstantial, but the playroom doubled as learning center is here to stay. Goodrich adopts a design approach for imaginative playrooms with super functional layouts, which often need to accommodate children of different ages and stages, as popular bedrooms for children.

Relaxation and leisure activities take precedence in designing spaces for children. Walls are geared towards children’s needs and depict their world in all facets. A chalkboard wallpaper in the playroom setting encourages the freedom of personal expressions and a chic utilitarian alternative for growing children.

Spaces designed for playful learning, daydreaming and relaxing, foster and support a child’s abilities and senses. Patterned and motif wallpaper solutions that tell a story provide an excellent backdrop to explore imagination and reality.
